Arman AKDOĞAN
Arman Akdoğan is a founder of IND [Inter.National.Design] (www.internationaldesign.nl) Rotterdam-based architecture and urban planning design and research studio. He worked previously as an architect and project lead of large-scale projects of public buildings at the Turkish offices Erginoğlu & Calışlar Architecture and Dutch offices of West 8 and OMA before establishing IND in 2007. In recent years, with IND, Arman Akdogan has won several prominent competitions such as Ceuta social housing in Spain (built) and Canakkale Land digital Antenna tower which is currently under development. He was a co-curator of two times International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam and Akdogan has taught, lectured, directed workshops at various schools across Europe including Venice Technical University, Innsbruck technical university, Rotterdam Academy and gave lectures at Mimar Sinan University and Yeditepe University. He has published a research book with Gordon Linden about all Universal Expo master plans and its cumulative programs. He is currently practicing in architecture of several buildings of Technical University Campus in Basra, Iraq.
Alexander SHERDLOV
Alexander Sverdlov is a founding partner of SVESMI (www.svesmi.eu), Rotterdam-based agency for architecture, urbanism and cultural programming. He worked previously as an architect and project lead of large-scale projects of public buildings at the Dutch offices of Neutelings Riedijk architects, West 8, Architecten Cie, and OMA/AMO.
In recent years, Sverdlov has won several awards in international competitions. He was a co-curator of and a contributor to the Shrinking Cities project by the German Cultural Foundation, as well as to the International Biennale Rotterdam. Sverdlov has taught, lectured, and served on juries at various schools across Europe, including the Delft University of Technology, Sheffield School of Architecture, AHO, and ETH Zurich. He currently works on the reform of the Moscow library system and leads several experimental library projects as head researcher and designer.
